Well the best laid plans of mice and men and all that jazz...
We had intentions of climbing today, but the elements have conspired against us. We ended up getting to Kentucky early only to be met by inclement weather. It is still raining as I write this at 10:40, but we are hopeful that it will clear up for tomorrow. If all goes according to plan, we will find a dry piece of rock to climb tomorrow and then head on down to Hueco Tanks State Park (Texas) where it is reportedly dry and sunny 300 days a year...if we get washed out here, we will just depart a bit earlier for the Tanks and try to find some higher ground.
All in all, we had a good day ,regardless of the weather, as we set out to get to the other end of a tunnel that led to the Red River Gorge (the road was closed and we couldn't get in the quick way). We unexpectedly spent about 3 hrs driving through some of the finer sites of kentucky...don't get me wrong, there were some beautiful sites (albeit they were covered by fog), but I think I saw the same broken down barn 12 times and drove down several dirt roads that had names but felt more like driveways...I mean they ended in somebody's barn...
As far as music goes:
Godsmack - Faceless
Bush - Sixteen Stone
The Beatles - Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
Alien Ant Farm - Antology
Yonder Mountain String Band (in honor of our arrival in Kentucky) - Mountain Tracks Volume 2
Frank Zappa - Joe's Garage
Also, the radio got some love today as Alex found a bluegrass station...he was pretty excited.
Well, we are sitting in a truck stop right outside The Red, getting ready to reorganize the truck and call it a night (sleeping arrangements have greatly improved since our first night btw)...talk to you guys tomorrow.
