Observation: There are no Kentucky Fried Chickens in Kentucky. But as soon as we hit Tennesse the first food service sign had KFC on it, go figure.
We have not seen a single cloud since Tennesse, we are currently on Tx-183 just outside Ft Worth, Tx. Its amazing, not a single wisp of cloud for 2 days now and it is currently 71*. I'm also pretty sure if you were to take the lowest point and highest point of a pancake and compare it to the elevation profile of arkansas that there would be more change in elevation on the pancake. Its flat as far as the eye can see and farm land for hours.
So far the only thing bigger in Texas has been the traffic. 2 hours to go 4 miles outside of Dallas...a tractor trailer flipped on the bridge we had to cross taking out all 3 lanes. We also had trouble finding a place to spend the night. Being that the area is so populated there weren't any rest areas to spend the night at. We found the next best thing, a Walmart. No, we didn't see if thay had a camping section and ask to try out their tents and sleeping pads. Although we were tempted. We still can't decide which was worse, sleeping in the truck at that Walmart parking lot or getting lost driving around the Kentucky foothills in the dark while its pouring out....its a toss up.
We decided to hit up an indoor climbing gym for a few hours this morning since we will be on the road for quite a while. In order to climb in Hueco Tanks State Park you have to make reservations since they only allow 70 climbers in per day. So our reservations are for the 8th 9th and 11th, which are the next available days.
Now for the tunes on the road:
Mr. Bungle- Mr. Bungle
Nine Inch Nails- Pretty Hate Machine
Pink Floyd- Wish You were Here
Led Zepplin- Coda
The Who- Quadrophenia
Tom Petty- Free Falling
Tool- Aemina
Nirvana- Unplugged NYC
Foo Fighters- One by One
Roger Waters- C.H.A.O.S
i wonder nick's reaction when he reads about Quadrophenia
