First off, I would like to apologize for the long winded posts by Larry. He may be a man of few words in person but put a keyboard in front of him and he just won't stop. He's entertaining so he'll keep his author privleges...for now.
Yes, we slept in the car in a less than ideal way, as you can tell in the photo from last night (we threw down a sleeping pad and yes we did use sleeping bags). We have since fixed that situation. We'll see how it goes tonight.
I'm glad we planned to travel on the weekends and aim to climb during the week. We had the entire cliff, possibly the entire gorge, to ourselves. No lines of people, no large noisy groups, just us and the leaves blowing off the top of the cliffs. Started off with a chill in the air and warmed up to 60* although the rocks felt like the remained frozen. Not bad for our first day in NRG, even though we were humbled by a route or two on the cliff. There's always tomorrow. We'll be getting an early jump on the climbing tomorrow morning and then we're off to Kentucky tomorrow night. Snow is in the forecast for here in West Va, so we're headed west to hopefully warmer weather.
So Larry would like me to mention the music we've burned through since his last post: Mason & Fenn- Fictious Sport, The Jelly Jam- Jelly Jam, Dream Theater- Train of Thought, Aerosmith- Greatest Hits '73-'88.
jealous of you guys! absorb every minute of it all, there's billions of people who would die to be in your positions.
ReplyDeleteSounds like an amazing first day...i am slightly jealous, but look forward to your daily blog so i can live vicariously through you... not to mention, it's quite entertaining. Keep it coming and i hope tonight's sleeping arrangements divert the any possibility of a sporking incident. Btw Where's Domo?
